Authorship guidelines

Publication ethics and research integrity policies

At Sage we're committed to publishing content that meets the highest standards of research and publication integrity. Our publication ethics policies are designed to ensure accuracy, transparency, and inclusivity. They are aligned with industry best practice guidelines as defined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME) and others. In the event a journal ceases publication and Sage removes the journal’s website, all articles available online will be triggered for Open Access via the CLOCKSS archive for permanent preservation.

We encourage authors to familiarize themselves with the policy information on these pages when preparing articles for submission, and we encourage our journal editors and reviewers to do the same to ensure that submissions being considered for publication meet Sage’s ethical standards. We won’t able to consider submissions that don't meet these standards, and if for any reason published articles are found to fall short of these standards we'll correct or retract the article according to our corrections and retractions policiesIf you have any questions or concerns please also feel free to contact the Editor of the Journal, or the Sage Publishing Editor.

Inclusive Language Guide

Inclusive Language Guide

Sage is committed to promoting equity throughout our publishing program, and we believe that using language is a simple and powerful way to ensure the communities we serve feel welcomed, respected, safe, and able to fully engage with the publishing process and our published content.

Inclusive language considerations are especially important when discussing topics like age, appearance, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, race, religion, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, emigration status, and weight.
